About LIT mods ᵀᴹ

After dropping my daughter off at a friends house, I was leaving the neighborhood and approached the security gate. It was the type of gate that has an arm that raises as you approach. I was following the car in front of me closely and expected the arm to remain raised as we exited.

Well, I was wrong. As I followed the other car through the security gate the arm came crashing down on the hood of my Jeep. I pulled over to see if there was any damage and all I noticed at the time were a couple of scuffs. When I got home and took a closer look, I noticed that one of the hood bumpers was missing.

Before this incident, I never paid much attention to the hood bumper. It’s a nondescript black plastic part that doesn’t serve much of a functional purpose these days, unless you take the time to fold the windshield down when off-roading. The origin of the hood bumper dates to the first military Jeeps built in the 1940’s. The primary reason (and there are additional reasons) for the folding windshield was it made the vehicle more compact for shipping and storage during wartime.

So, while waiting for my replacement hood bumpers to arrive, I began to think about what I could create to replace the existing black plastic part with something much cooler looking. I wanted to develop something highly unique and innovative. My vision was to create an accessory that is personalized, illuminated, easy to install, 3-D printed, high quality and anti-theft. From there, my journey began to create LIT mods. All our ideas are influenced by you, our fellow Jeep enthusiasts, and the Jeep community.
